Relationship between active learning heuristic problem-solving approach and students’ attitude towards mathematics

The study explored the direct relationship between active learning heuristic problem-solving approach and students’ attitude towards mathematics, using linear programming (LP) word tasks. Two instruments were used for data collection: Attitude Mathematics Inventory-Short Form was adapted (with α = .75) as a multidimensional measurement tool, validated standardized tool. A quantitative with quasi-experimental pre-test, post-test, non-equivalent control group design adopted. sample of 608 grade 11 Ugandan students (291 male 317 female) from eight secondary schools (public private), four central Uganda, remaining eastern Uganda participated. Data analyzed PROCESS macro SPSS (v.4). results revealed significant positive problem solving (ALHPSA) LP tasks (ATLPWTs). Thus, ALHPSA positively directly impacted on ATLPWTs. findings can be explained by theoretical, conceptual, and/or psychometric factors. Overall, indicate beneficial practical implications that support theoretical framework enhancing mathematics problems in beyond.
